A couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to go on vacation for 3 days. It was the first time traveled without my laptop this year which felt incredibly foreign to me but was much needed. Since I started blogging full time last June, I have become a workaholic without a doubt. It’s hard for me to not be “on” – whether it’s email, conference calls, creating Instagram content during a meal, I just keep going. But everyone needs a break.
The world is not going to end if I don’t Instagram about moisturizer for a few days. Email – believe it or not – will be there when you return. And social media is fun and entertaining, but not a necessity. If anything, being away from those things for a few days made me appreciate them more when I started using and doing them again.
Self care is not optional. It is necessary to become the fullest version of yourself. Success is only truly valuable if it’s lead by happiness. It’s ok to stop and refill your tank. Not only is it ok, it’s mandatory.
Vacation humanized me. And effective immediately, I’m choosing to prioritize my personal humanity.
