Jay Dee’s passing eleven years ago cut me deep. I remember when Daniel David called me on the phone & told me the sad news while I was at the Oakes bus stop, waiting to go to the Catalyst to buy tickets for a Mos Def concert. My life felt shaken & I cried, harder than when Aaliyah passed away. All of the records & CDs that I loved the most-from Tribe, to Slum Village, to Janet-were all connected to him: you could feel his presence in the best of those Soulquarians-linked artists of that era. On today’s show, it’s all originals, remixes, & tributes for #Dilla.
